More story in the field, fewer signs in the landscape

An audio tour tells your visitors about what they see, without filling the area with panels. It works at your signs, along your route and in your visitor centre.

The landscape tells the story, you provide the words

A walking route through the dunes, a bird hide, an old stream bed: every point in your area has a story. With an audio tour, you link that story to the place itself.

Rangers and volunteers supply the texts and your visitors hear them in their own language. That way the knowledge stays in your organisation and still reaches everyone.

Why this suits a nature area

A story in the place itself, for every visitor.

  • Fewer signs needed

Your story is on your visitor’s phone instead of on a panel in the dunes.

  • Along the way, in the place itself

With GPS triggers, the story starts at the place it’s about, even on a long route.

  • The sound of the area

You upload your own recording for each stop, such as a ranger telling a story or the sound of the area itself.

  • Every visitor in their own language

Day trippers, tourists and school groups listen in the language they understand best. You choose from more than 70 languages.

  • Through the seasons

Is the breeding season starting or a path closed? Then you edit the text or switch a stop off temporarily, and every language follows.

  • In your own branding

The tour in your area’s colours and with its logo, on your own web address.

Making the most of patchy coverage

Outdoor areas don’t have good coverage everywhere. The tour streams the audio for each stop and that uses little data. A weak signal is usually enough.

Put the QR code at the starting point, on the information panel or in your visitor centre, where coverage is good. If the GPS signal drops, visitors choose the stop on the map. More about GPS triggers

  • Little data per stop
  • A QR code on the information panel
  • A map of the stops if the GPS signal drops

How it works in your area

From your visitor centre to the furthest marker post on the route: the same ease everywhere.

  1. 1At the starting pointA QR code on the desk of your visitor centre, on the information panel or on the walking map. Visitors scan it and choose their language.
  2. 2On the routeAt a marker post or a hide, they type in the number, or the story starts by itself when they arrive.
  3. 3Listen and lookA ranger tells them about what they see. Or they hear the sound of the area itself.

Frequently asked questions

Do visitors need internet along the way?

Yes, but not much. The tour streams the audio for each stop and a weak signal is usually enough. Put your QR code where coverage is good, at the starting point, for example.

Can we add birdsong or field recordings?

Yes. For each stop and language, you choose: an AI voice or your own recording. You simply upload a field recording or birdsong as your own recording.

What if the GPS signal drops?

Then visitors choose the stop on the map, or type in the number on the marker post.

Can volunteers help with the texts?

Certainly. You can add unlimited colleagues and volunteers, each with one of the four roles. That way you decide who can help write and who can only look. The log shows who did what.
