Studio recording
An audio tour narrated by real voices in a studio, often listened to on a rented device.
You hear a human voice, with the warmth and character of a real narrator.
There are three ways to let visitors hear a story. Here you can see, honestly, how they differ in cost, upkeep and convenience.
An audio tour recorded in a studio, an audio guide app or Wandrz: this is how they differ in day-to-day use.
| Studio recording | Audio guide app | Wandrz | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost (indication) | Around €6,000 to €11,000 one-off for 4 languages, plus €200 to €550 per language for every change | From around €16,000 for building and narration, plus 15 to 20% of the build cost per year for maintenance | From €1,950 per year, with translation and narration in all your languages included |
| A new language | A new recording session | Through the supplier | Translated and narrated, then you listen to it |
| Changing a text | Back into the studio | Often through the supplier | Yourself, and all languages follow |
| What visitors need | A rented device | An app to download | Just a browser |
| Who decides when it goes live | In your own hands | Varies by supplier | You, after you’ve listened to it |
| How visitors start | Collect a device at the front desk | Find the app, download it and load the tour | Scan a QR code or type in the number |
| What you manage yourself | Lending, charging, cleaning and replacing devices | App updates, through the supplier | No equipment: visitors use their own phones |
| The voice | A human voice | Varies by supplier | A natural AI voice that suits each language, or your own recording for any stop |
| Quality control | In the studio, during the recording | Varies by supplier | No translation goes live unchecked; you listen to everything first |
| A temporary exhibition | A new recording session | Through the supplier | A separate section in the tour, with a start and end date |
| Accessibility | Varies by device | Varies by app | Text to read along, playback speed and larger text; tested against WCAG 2.2 AA |
| Without signal | Works, the device plays the audio itself | Works, if the tour has been downloaded in advance | No: the tour streams, but a weak signal is usually enough |
Studio recordings and apps vary by supplier. This comparison describes how it usually works. The costs are an indication based on published rates (2024–2026) for 20 stops of around 200 words in 4 languages, excluding VAT.
you have one fixed tour in one or two languages that will stay the same for years. And if a human voice matters more to you than being able to change things quickly.
your tour has to work in places without signal or you want to offer visitors more than audio. And if you want to have an app built and maintained.
you want to reach visitors in their own language, keep your tour up to date yourself and not manage any equipment or app.
Or combine them: if you already have studio recordings, they simply stay in your tour. For each stop and language, you choose an AI voice or your own recording.

Yes. You upload your own recording for each stop and language. That way you keep the languages you’ve already had recorded and add new languages without a new recording session.
The tour streams the audio stop by stop. That uses little data, so a weak signal is usually enough. Place your QR code where the signal is good.
No. Visitors scan a QR code or type in the number of a stop and start listening straight away in their browser.
Your data is stored on servers in the Netherlands. Audio and images are stored in the EU.
Two-step verification, roles and an activity log for your team.
The tour doesn’t follow visitors and doesn’t build profiles.
