Frequently asked questions

Everything organisations ask us about multilingual audio tours, in one place.

General

Languages, privacy, accessibility and how quickly you can go live.

Do I need an app to use a Wandrz tour?

No. A Wandrz tour opens straight in your phone’s browser. Visitors scan a QR code or follow a link, choose their language and start. They don’t need to download or update anything and don’t need an account.

Which languages can my tour be available in?

In more than 70 languages, including Dutch (Dutch and Flemish), English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese. You choose which languages you offer and you can always add a language later.

How quickly is my tour live?

Once your texts are ready, your first stops are ready within a few hours. You decide when the tour goes live. The lead time usually isn’t in the technology but in writing and proofreading the texts.

Can I edit the tour myself later?

Yes, that’s the whole idea. You edit texts, add objects or switch a stop off temporarily. When you change a text, the audio is recreated automatically in every language and checked before a visitor hears it. You view every change on your own web address first, and it only goes live once you’re happy. You don’t need us for that.

Who owns the content in my tour?

You do. Your texts, photos and recordings remain your property. If you stop using Wandrz, you get your texts, images and own recordings in a usable format on request.

What about privacy and the GDPR?

Visitors don’t need to create an account and we don’t build profiles. We measure anonymously how often clips are played and in which language. For customers, we sign a data processing agreement. What the platform stores is kept in the Netherlands; audio and images are stored in the EU. For translation and voices, we work with processors outside the EU, under European contractual terms. Visitor data doesn’t go there.

Is a Wandrz tour accessible to people with a disability?

That’s what the tour is designed for: large buttons, clear contrast, clear headings for screen readers and a calm voice. For people with low vision or low literacy, audio is often the most accessible format of all.

Do we have to write the texts ourselves?

Most organisations use texts they already have, for example from signs or a brochure. If you get stuck, we help you think about structure and length, or put you in touch with a copywriter.

Software

Branding, voices, statistics and how the tour works for your visitors.

Do GPS triggers also work indoors?

Indoors, GPS is too imprecise to start the audio in the right room. For indoor spaces, you use QR codes at objects, short numbers that visitors type in or an NFC tag with the stop’s link. In one tour, you can combine GPS outdoors with these methods indoors.

Can the tour look exactly like our branding?

Yes. We set up the tour for you with your logo and colours. That’s included in the price. Want your own typeface? Then we’ll add it for you. After that, you change everything yourself whenever you like and see the result on a phone straight away. Want the tour to look like your website? Then we build a visitor app to your design. The tour runs on your own web address, for example tour.yourmuseum.com, so visitors see your brand and not ours.

How natural do the AI voices sound?

Natural enough to listen to for half an hour without it becoming irritating. Every language gets a voice that suits it, and names of people, places and works are pronounced correctly. You can listen to everything yourself first and nothing goes live without your approval. During a demo, we play you clips in different languages, so you can judge for yourself.

Does the tour work without internet?

No. The tour streams the audio for each stop, so visitors need Wi-Fi or mobile internet. The audio uses little data, so a weak signal is usually enough. For areas with poor coverage, we recommend putting a QR code somewhere coverage is still good.

Can I see how the tour is used?

Yes. For each stop, you see how often it’s played and listened to until the end, which stops visitors skip, what ratings they give and which languages they choose. All without cookies. That helps you improve your tour or report on a grant.

Can I reuse texts and recordings I already have?

Certainly. You simply paste in existing texts and upload your own recordings. For each stop and language, you choose an AI voice or your own recording. You can add photos and video for each object too.

Pricing

Plans, contracts and ticket sales.

What does Wandrz cost?

Wandrz is a subscription with two plans, matched to your number of visitors per year. Basis, for up to 25,000 visitors, costs €1,950 a year. Pro, from 25,000 visitors, is on request. Every plan includes the full platform, unlimited stops, more than 70 languages, ticket sales through your own Mollie account and a dedicated contact at Wandrz. All prices exclude VAT.

What if we get more visitors?

Then your plan simply continues. If you go over your plan’s number of visitors, at renewal we’ll look together at whether another plan suits you better, Pro for example. We never change your plan halfway through. Your visitors are never blocked and you never get an unexpected bill.

How do you determine our visitor numbers?

You tell us your number of visitors per year yourself, usually the figure from your annual report. We put that in your contract. At renewal, we check together whether your plan still fits. Don’t count visitors, for example on a city walk or in a nature area? Then we agree on a suitable number together, or make you a custom quote.

What does a visitor pay for the tour?

That’s up to you. You choose what a ticket costs and how long it’s valid, to suit your venue and your visitors. If you want to change the price later, you do that yourself in your dashboard. With Pro, your ticketing or till system can also give access, so you can sell a combined ticket.

Who handles the payments?

You do, through your own Mollie account. You connect it once, or we do it for you. Visitors pay in the browser and the revenue goes straight to you. Prefer to work with your own ticketing or till system? With Pro, that system can give access, so sales run through it.

Can we sell tours through our own ticketing or till system?

Yes, with Pro. Your ticketing or till system can then give access, for a combined ticket too. Visitors simply buy the tour at your front desk or in your own web shop and the tour is unlocked as soon as the payment goes through. On Basis, you sell access at the front desk with a daily code or online through your own Mollie account.

What does fair use mean?

Fair use means that every plan includes more than enough audio per contract year to create and update your tour, in all your languages. This is about creating audio, such as a new stop, a new language or an edited text that is voiced again. Listening by your visitors never counts and is always unlimited. You see in advance what an action costs. If your tour grows a lot, for example with a new exhibition, we’ll work out together what fits. The agreements are in article 6 of our terms and conditions, which come with every quote.

What does onboarding include and what does it cost?

We set up your first tour and your branding together with you: building the structure, loading the first texts and languages, getting the QR code ready and showing your colleagues the ropes. That’s included in the price. After that, you do everything yourself or let us do it.

What if our venue has free admission?

Then it works exactly the same. Your plan depends on your number of visitors, not on what you sell. You offer the tour for free. If you later want to sell individual tours after all, to groups for example, you can do so without extra fixed costs.

What happens with a refund?

If you sell tours, you decide when a refund is reasonable, for example after a technical fault or a double purchase. You refund the amount yourself from your dashboard, under Sales. It goes to the visitor through your own Mollie account and the refund then appears in your overview. Need help? We’re happy to think it through with you.
