A story that reaches everyone

Not everyone reads the signs. With spoken stories in your visitors’ own languages, you reach exactly the people who would otherwise switch off.

More than a sign in one language

Neighbourhood projects, local history museums, remembrance routes and participation projects have one thing in common: the story is meant for everyone. Yet it often stops at a text in one language.

With Wandrz, everyone hears the story of a neighbourhood or a community in their own language. You choose from more than 70 languages. Visitors don’t need an app or an account.

  • The story in the languages spoken in the neighbourhood
  • On their own phone, without an app
  • When you edit a text, every language follows automatically

Residents tell their own stories

Many projects are about people’s own stories. For each stop and language, you choose: an AI voice or your own recording.

That way you hear a resident in their own words, and a visitor who doesn’t speak the language follows the story in a translated version. The original voice is kept.

You view everything on your own web address before it goes live. You can always go back to the previous version. You decide what goes into the tour.

For people who struggle to read, have poor sight or are still learning the language

A story is only for everyone if everyone can follow it. Every visitor sets up the tour in the way that suits them.

  • Listening instead of reading

People who struggle to read or have poor sight simply hear the story. That removes a big barrier.

  • At their own pace

Visitors make the voice slower or faster and rewind a little.

  • Reading along in larger text

At every stop, visitors can read along with the text and make the letters bigger.

  • Tested for accessibility

The visitor app is tested to WCAG 2.2 AA, including when someone doubles the text size on a small phone.

How a neighbourhood route comes together

From residents’ stories to a route anyone can walk, in their own language.

  1. 1Gathering storiesResidents tell their story. You write it down or record it the way they tell it.
  2. 2We set up the routeIn the languages you choose and in your project’s style. That’s included in the price.
  3. 3A QR code at every pointOn a sign along the route or in a leaflet. Visitors listen on their own phones.
  4. 4Showing the resultsYou see how often people listen, for each stop and language, for your reporting.

For each language, you see how often every stop is played, how often it’s listened to until the end and which stops are skipped. That works without cookies and visitors aren’t tracked. You download the overview as a file, for a funder or grant provider, for example. More about the statistics

Frequently asked questions

Do visitors need an app or an account?

No. Visitors scan the QR code, choose their language and listen in the browser. The tour doesn’t track visitors.

Does the tour work with a screen reader?

Yes. The visitor app is tested for accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA), with clear headings, buttons and labels. And the content itself is available as audio anyway.

Can residents tell their stories in their own language?

Yes. For each stop and language, you choose: an AI voice or your own recording. If a resident tells their story in Turkish, you add that recording to the Turkish version of the stop. Visitors in other languages hear the translated text, narrated by an AI voice.

Can this be funded with a grant?

That depends on the scheme. Accessibility and multilingualism fit many funds and schemes. We’re happy to help you make the case. With the statistics, you can show afterwards how the tour was used.
